Doing. Making. Playing. How often do we make time to focus on these in the process of producing a finished artwork? The aim of this morning long project is to carve out a time for ourselves to explore materials and use the process of making as a time for learning. Building upon Open Study Group, Play Day will explore how play can be a form of research. It is the chance to get together and explore different materials and processes without the pressure of producing anything ‘finished’ and will look at that tipping point in making, where an artwork becomes something exciting, changes direction or goes somewhere else completely. We will be using homemade play dough/salt dough and will do some monoprinting. The morning might involve some discussion around practice and play so come armed with: 1. An object that you associate with play! 2. Paper for printing on (think any old type of paper- newspaper, tracing paper, printing paper) and a roller if you have one. 3. Tools to gouge, scratch, smooth and mark make with. 4. 2D Objects to incorporate into our monoprints e.g leaves, lace etc. Monday September 12th 10am - all welcome
